WCANSW was established in December 1991 and is a multidisciplinary, non-profit organisation consisting of people who are committed to developing and improving wound management through education, research, communication and networking.

Membership of the WCANSW provides automatic membership of the to the Australian Wound Management Association and complimentary subscription to the glossy Australian quarterly wound care journal Wound Practice & Research.

Patron: Bryce Courtenay AM, Author and Speaker
In 1999, Bryce Courtenay AM generously accepted our invitation to become the Association's Patron. Bryce opened our 1999 Conference Passion or Pay held at the Novotel, Brighton Le Sands on 19 and 20 November 1999 with a most inspiring performance of The power of the individual to achieve any end purpose.

Born in South Africa, Bryce Courtenay was educated in Johannesburg and the U.K. He arrived in Australia in 1958 and became an Australian citizen the following year.

He entered advertising and over a career spanning 34 years was the Creative Director of McCann Erickson, J. Walter Thompson and George Patterson Advertising. During this time, he was much awarded both in Australia and overseas.

As a lecturer and speaker, he was invited by the Chinese Government to give the first series of lectures on the subject of Advertising and Free Enterprise. He has lectured on the power of the individual to achieve any end purpose, in Asia, the U.K., the U.S.A., New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and in Australia and is rated as one of the top five speakers in Australia.

However, he is best known as Australia's top selling prolific novelist with titles such as Power of One, Tandia, April Fool's Day, The Potato Factory, Tommo and Hawk, Jessica, Solomon's Song, A Recipefor Dreaming, The Family Frying Pan, The Night Country, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Four Fires, Matthew Flinders Cat, Brothers Fish, Whitehorn, Sylvia, The Persimmon Tree, Fishing for Stars
